👋🏼there!! First off, THANK YOU to all of those that have served our country - so thankful for your service to allow us the freedom we have every day....Missing my two favorite veteran grandaddies, but know we will one day meet again 🙏🏻 On another note, I noticed we have a few new followers and wanted to re-introduce myself (aka Cotton & Quill)! I’m Mary Catherine, founder & Principal Designer, of #cottonandquill❤️ I started C&Q a little over 7yrs ago, and it’s been a roller coaster ever since...a little background, I’ve been designing my own rooms since childhood (had a blow-up sofa which at the time was the best thing since sliced bread until my friend burned a hole in it 🔥💨...that was the 90s/YTK) and have been drawing/creating ever since I can remember...I have TONS of books and sketches filled through the years and went to LA in the 2nd grade for the National Ziploc Sandwich Contest for my Tropical Flamingo Sandwich recipe (random...absolutely - DM for recipe 😂)My favorite time of the year is NOW...I decorate for Christmas earlier and earlier each year 😉 and I’m a Sagittarius baby...only 10 days before Cmas....I absolutely LOVE to cook (and bake, but trying the low carb/sugar thing with a Type 1 diabetic hubs so that’s on the fritz for now ❌🧁😭) I’m a fur baby momma and lover...can’t get enough of those sweet babies!! I grew up a 3rd generation #auburntigergrad& am also a #southernbellewith AL roots, but one of my favorite places I’ve ever lived was NJ 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t like drama & love the hubs favorite saying of “make everyday a good day!” I am a believer that God has a plan for everything in this life whether I understand it now or not....I’m an only child and am just so thankful for every day - and for the continued support of all of YOU (and can’t forget the fam)! Wishing you a wonderful start to the week and a FABULOUS holiday season!! Oh, and by the way, check out @westonfarmsto get a FAB wreath like this one....literally one of the BEST farms and companies I know ❤️
Love , I only wish that I could turn back time when it comes to these three. To slow down the time of them growing up. I miss the little feet running through the house calling my name. Those are the sweetest moments I will cherish forever. I never knew nor understood what true love meant until I held my first born in my arms. She was oh so tiny and oh so fragile but she melted my heart for sure as well as her two brothers. She and her brother's have made all my dreams come true for sure. They each have their own personality and they each have a heart of gold. They have made their daddy and I oh so proud and we love them oh so very much. Ps this was taken three years ago on our daughter's wedding day ❤️ #love#weddinggown#wedding#photo#photographer#weddingalbum#family#familyphoto#farmhouseliving#faith#southernbelle
Ever heard of the phrase: breeding will tell?
Breeding refers to lineage and manners. Historically, those of aristocratic or high pedigree had better manners and deportment than those of the lower classes. So, breeding became one way for society matrons to tell new money from old money and desirable newcomers from undesirable newcomers. No one can hide bad manners and inelegant deportment for long.
When finishing schools were introduced, this method of distinguishing social classes became almost obsolete. These schools allowed young women from new money to learn alongside those from old money.
The most wonderful thing about education is: it always has a way of leveling differences. All it requires is two things: identification of a need/weakness and a determination to learn. Today, all is within reach.
